Seats
The majority of triple buggies begin as single pushchairs. However, some can be modified to accept the second seat using adapters. Some models allow you to add an extra board for older children who are able to walk but require a little help.
For a light-weight option that's great for urban streets, look into the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to move and has an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins as young as birth and accommodate two car seats or an infant carrycot and seat. The seats must face forward and there is no space for a shopping bag under the seat. You will need an extra sidepack.
Mountain Buggy Duet will be an ideal choice when you love off-roading. It is a side by side model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to squeeze through doors that are narrow and on public transport and also allows you to go up and down kerbs without too much trouble. The adjustable handlebar has a handbrake for added security and safety.
Another lightweight choice is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used for twins or a toddler and baby. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun out of your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple by the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack board for older and mobile kids.
The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies that are available, thanks to its superb comfort. It is a true all terrain pushchair, with soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations, and has a built-in ride-on for older kids who prefer walking as well as a 'cinema' seating mode which raises the back seat to allow for better visibility.
Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from day 1 that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) in multiple configurations. This is especially helpful for parents with children in a car seat since the frame can be fitted with a wedgie to allow for optimal lying flat, or car seat adapters for various brands.
Suspension

The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine how easily your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is essential as babies can feel every bump in the road, especially when it's on rough terrain like grass or unpaved paths. Some models have locking front tires that help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.
Some models use air-filled tyres that give you a great all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures therefore, make sure you have spares in the trunk. Certain models come with gel-filled or foam-filled tyres which are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, but they may cause discomfort for your child if you decide to run.

Folding
A three-wheeled double buggy can be folded up easily to be stored. There are options that fold flat, stand up (as as if they were the form of a pushchair) and also pop out to reveal a more umbrella-style folding, with the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels a buggy is equipped with, in general the easier it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than average size. You will have more stability and it will be less likely that you will need to tip over or flip your child.
